The Town Council of Caravaca de la Cruz adds this Wednesday, 27 September, to the commemoration of the ' World Tourism Day ', convened this year with the motto "sustainable tourism as a tool for development". The Council of Tourism of the consistory Caravaqueño, in collaboration with the University of Murcia, has programmed a day of open doors in the network of museums of Caravaca of the cross and a round table and recital of piano, that will take place in the church of San Jose , from the old convent of the Carmelite mothers.
The roundtable, scheduled for 20.00 hours, is entitled ' Patrimony, tourism and local development ' and in the same is expected the participation of professors from the Department of Geography of the University of Murcia and editors of the magazine ' Notebooks of Turismo ', Ramón García Martín and Cayetano Espejo Marín. Also involved are Javier Martí Talavera and Daniel Moreno Muñoz, both graduates in geography and co-authors of the study ' The Wine horses (Caravaca de la Cruz, Murcia, Spain): A unique heritage as a Tourist Attraction’.
After the round table, at 21.15 hours, will begin the piano recital by Arturo Abellán, student of the Music Conservatory ' Leandro Martínez Romero ', who at his young age has received more than a dozen prestigious awards both national level As International.
The World Tourism Organization and the United Nations General Assembly convene the ' World Tourism Day ' as an opportunity to sensitize the decision-making instances of the public and private sectors and the general public regarding the Contribution of sustainable tourism to development, mobilizing at the same time all stakeholders to work together in order to make tourism a catalyst for change.
This year the celebration revolves around sustainable tourism and is that the tourism sector can contribute to the three pillars of sustainability (economic, social and environmental), and to each of the 17 objectives of sustainable development (ODS). In addition to leading growth, tourism leads to a better quality of life, the strengthening of environmental protection, the defense of diverse cultural heritage and the promotion of peace in the world.
