El V Ciclo Teresiano de Caravaca de la Cruz, organizado conjuntamente por las concejalías de Cultura y Turismo del Ayuntamiento y los Carmelitas Descalzos, se celebrará los días 14, 15 y 16 de octubre con dos sedes; la antigua iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús y la iglesia de San José del antiguo convento de las Carmelitas Descalzas, ambas en la calle Mayor.

Esta cita regresa, tras la suspensión obligada el año pasado por la pandemia, con el mismo objetivo con el que nació: profundizar en el conocimiento de Santa Teresa de Jesús, la mística y reformadora de la Orden del Carmen, cuya vinculación con Caravaca viene a través del convento de clausura que fundó en 1576, y de San Juan de la Cruz, el insigne poeta y reformador de la rama masculina del Carmen Descalzo, que igualmente fundó en Caravaca una década después.

El ciclo comenzará el jueves 14 de octubre con la asamblea que la Asociación de Ciudades pertenecientes al ‘Camino de San Juan de la Cruz’ celebrará en la antigua iglesia de la Compañía de Jesús a partir de las 10.30 horas. Los alcaldes de Beas de Segura, Villanueva del Arzobispo, Santiago-Pontones, Hornos del Segura, Nerpio y Moratalla, así como los Carmelitas Descalzos de Caravaca, están convocados a este encuentro por el Consistorio caravaqueño. Con esta reunión se persigue darle un nuevo impulso a este proyecto, estableciendo las líneas de trabajo a corto y medio plazo en cuanto a trazado y adecuación de tramos de caminos, estatutos y actuaciones de divulgación y promoción, entre otros temas.

El viernes 15 de octubre, fiesta de la Santa de Ávila, la Asociación de San Juan de la Cruz y Santa Teresa de Jesús, con la colaboración de la Concejalía de Cultura, llevará a cabo una velada literaria dramatizada en la que se recreará la fundación del convento de San José de Caravaca. Con la participación de actores y actrices aficionados y recorriendo espacios del convento como el claustro, el huerto o la iglesia, los asistentes se trasladarán a los últimos meses de 1575 y los primeros días de 1576, cuando se fraguó la fundación caravaqueña. Para ello se utilizarán textos de la propia Santa, que se acompañarán de música en directo. El aforo está limitado a 50 personas y las invitaciones gratuitas podrán retirarse en la portería del convento de los Descalzos, en La Corredera.

El V Ciclo Teresiano será clausurado el sábado 16 de octubre con un concierto de clave basado en un repertorio de la época de Santa Teresa de Jesús, en concreto de Antonio de Cabezón y otros compositores españoles renacentistas. También incluirá música del barroco alemán y francés, para hacer un recorrido por la música compuesta durante la época de esplendor de la ciudad de Caravaca.

Tanto la velada literaria del día 15 como el concierto del sábado 16 darán comienzo a las 20.30 horas, en la iglesia de San José de la calle Mayor.
