Las obras se están desarrollando con un presupuesto cercano a los 50.000 euros, en una superficie de 500 metros, y consisten en la creación de un carril adaptado a la circulación peatonal y en bicicleta, con nuevo pavimento coloreadoque estará debidamente protegido con barandilla a base de cuerda y balizas de madera, así como con señalización vertical y horizontaladaptada al entorno.

Esta actuación se encuentra enmarcada en la segunda fase del plan de gestión sostenible de Las Fuentes que se viene impulsado de forma coordinada desde distintas concejalíasdel equipo de Gobierno municipal a través de una batería de medidas concretas. 

“Con este nuevo sendero peatonal se favorece la llegada a pie o en bici, se evita el aparcamiento indebido y se mejoran las condiciones de seguridad vial”, según ha detallado el concejal de Tráfico y Seguridad Ciudadana, José Santiago Villa, quien ha señalado que “la idea es que este tramo quede integrado con el proyecto del ‘Anillo Verde’que rodeará el casco urbano y que también avanzará en las próximas semanas con el inicio de la obras en el último tramo de la Vía Verde del Noroeste a su llegada a la ciudad”.  

“El espacio en el que se están desarrollando los trabajos tenía zonas de asfalto con pequeños tramos tierra donde se alternaba de forma irregular el tráfico rodado y peatonal sin las condiciones adecuadas de seguridad”, ha indicado José Santiago Villa. 

Dentro del proyecto para una gestión sostenible del paraje de Las Fuentes del Marqués,el Ayuntamiento de Caravaca de la Cruz ya ha puesto marcha numerosas acciones entre las que se encuentra la creación de un aparcamiento disuasorio, la clausura de los aparcamientos del paraje y la restricción del tráfico rodado en las inmediaciones durante los fines de semana y fechas festivas. A estas medidas, se suman a otras que también velan por la buena conservación del entorno como la nueva patrulla especial de limpieza o la instalación de señalización informativa actualizada en accesos e interiores del paraje con la normativa que el visitante debe respetar. 

Igualmente, se procedió a la eliminación de la mayor parte de zonas de merenderos, con la retirada del mobiliario que fue reubicado en colegios del casco urbano y pedanías. En total se retiraron 17 mesas, dejando únicamente 6 que se encuentran localizadas en la zona de entrada para fomentar su uso exclusivo como zona de paseo.

También, dentro de las medidas que persiguen evitar la masificación del paraje y los usos inadecuados del mismo, se puso en marcha la página web www.lasfuentesdelmarques.com, donde se incluye el sistema del control de aforo que se encuentra periodo de prueba hasta la entrada en vigor de la modificación de la ordenanza reguladora y que ha sido utilizado desde el mes de mayo de este año por más de 8.000 personas. 

En la página destinada los visitantes del paraje también se incluyó el video de concienciación y sensibilización 'Que no pierdan la magia. Las Fuentes del Marqués', en el que de una forma original y cinematográfica se pide la colaboración de caravaqueños y visitantes para no alterar la esencia, mostrando la remota historia de este lugar que ha sido disfrutado de forma ininterrumpida por distintas civilizaciones. En el portal web también se da a conocer la normativa e información de interés para el visitante.
